that up until Duncan Black lashed home a spectacular opening goal from 25 yards out in the second half, Firrhill looked the better side. They mounted attack after attack on keeper Murray Jackson's goal in the first half and should have scored on more than one occasion.
Shortly before the half-time break, Stuart Ogilvie, broke through the centre of the Craigmount defence and he sent a glorious chip shot over the advancing Jackson only to see the ball strike the face of the crossbar and, in a desperate goal-mouth scramble, it was eventually cleared.
If anyone ever deserved a goal for such skilful play, it was the Firrhill No.9.
At the start of the second half, Firrhill continued their attacks and big Greg Barrie, who had an excellent game in the heart of the defence, ventured up field for a corner and his glancing header went just wide of Jackson's right-hand post. Then the roof fell in on Firrhill. Craigmount broke away and the ball broke to Black and the Craigmount No.4 connected perfectly to send the ball crashing past goalkeeper Jonathan Sharkey's and into the top left-hand corner of the net.
It was a wonderful strike, a spectacular goal and, frankly, Firrhill never recovered from that savage blow.
Going in front lifted the Craigmount players and they went on to take charge of the game. What a turnaround in fortunes that goal produced!
In another attack up the middle, Mark Hendry ran at the Firrhill defence with the ball at his feet, survived a tough challenge in the 18-yard box and recovered to side foot the ball past the advancing Sharkey to make it 2-0 and effectively kill the game.
Barrie and his defensive colleagues in the Firrhill side were under pressure from then on and when they gave away a needless free kick on the left touchline, they were made to pay for it.
The Craigmount No.11 took the kick and he sent the most perfect in-swinging ball in to the far corner of the Firrhill for 3-0.
Craigmount now go on to play Boroughmuir in the final.
